America's Invitation To A Funeral

Burial at Arlington National Cemetery
April 10, 2024 at 3:00 pm

Family and guests arrive at the cemetery via Memorial Avenue. Gate guards will direct you to park in queuing lanes. Signs will let you know which lane is dedicated to your service. Proceed to the Administration Building, where the receptionist will guide you to your assigned family room.

We suggest wearing attire that is appropriate for the season, but also respects the dignity of the occasion. Proper footwear that allows mobility on hard and soft surfaces is recommended.

Arlington National Cemetery requires 100% ID checks at all entrances.

All visitors 16 years of age and older (pedestrians, drivers and passengers) must present a valid photo identification upon entering the cemetery. Visitors include all funeral attendees, tourists and personnel on official business. School group leaders and tour guides must also present the required identification. Original documentation is required. Paper copies or cell phone photos of identification are not accepted.

Visitors 18 years of age and older must present a valid U.S. state or federal government-issued photo identification for entry.
Visitors 16 and 17 years old who do not have a U.S. state or federal government-issued photo identification may present an official school-issued photo identification for entry.
Persons who are not U.S. citizens must present a valid passport or U.S. State Department-issued photo identification for entry.

Keeping Dad's Legacy Alive...

On December 21, 2023, we mourned the loss of a true hero, Command Sergeant Major Thomas Donohue Sr., a man of valor and dedication. As we navigate through this period of grief, his son, Tom Donohue Jr., has proposed a noble initiative to ensure that CSM Donohue's legacy continues to inspire and make a positive impact.

The proposed foundation, still in its formative stage, aims to honor CSM Donohue's lifelong commitment to service by supporting the families of our brave soldiers. Our mission is to recognize the sacrifices made not just by the soldiers themselves, but also by their families, particularly the children who often grow up missing precious moments with their serving parent.

While the foundation's specific areas of focus are yet to be fully defined, we are considering several potential initiatives. These could include providing educational opportunities, helping families find their footing during challenging times, and fostering local community groups. These preliminary ideas embody the spirit of service that CSM Donohue exemplified throughout his life, and through them, we hope to extend his legacy of service and dedication.

However, to bring this vision to fruition, we must first secure a 501(c)(3) non-profit status. This is a critical step in establishing the foundation as a recognized charitable organization. If you are a legal professional, or know one, who can assist us in this process, we kindly urge you to reach out to us.

Through this foundation, we aspire to ensure that CSM Donohue's legacy continues to serve those who have given so much for our nation. As we embark on this journey, we invite you to join us in honoring his memory and supporting our soldiers and their families.
